Eligibility
- High school students entering
grades
10-12
- Teens must be committed to community
service and excited to participate in a
cultural exchange.
Accommodations
-
While in Haifa, teens live in the guest
houses and dormitories of our partner
site,
The Rutenberg Institute for Youth
Education.
- In
Boston, teens take part in our own
version of "The Real World
Boston
" in
our BU dorms.
- In both
Israel
and the US
there will be
overnight trips and a weekend
of home
hospitality.
- Home hospitality weekend provides teens
with an authentic view of family life in the
Haifa
and Boston
communities.
Food
- Three full meals and additional snacks
are
provided for the teens each day.
- All meals and snacks will be kosher.
Staff
-
An experienced and mature staff of
American
and Israeli youth educators
works together to guide the participants
throughout the program.
Orientation
-
In late spring and early summer, there
will be
a parent-teen orientation as well
as
a series of meetings for the teens to
prepare
for the program.

How
to Apply
- To apply,
please complete the program
application
and return
it with a deposit
of $250.
-
Letters of recommendation should be
sent directly to the Teens for Tzedek
office.
-
Interviews with the Program Director
will be arranged after receipt of your
application.
-
Priority is given to teens applying from
the
New England area, but out of state
and international students are also
encouraged
to apply.
- Admissions are made on a rolling basis.
- Early application is recommended, as
space is limited.
- Applications will be accepted for rolling
admission until May 1st.

Pricing
- $5,500
Price includes accommodations, meals,
travel, and recreational activities. This
price reflects a generous subsidy for all
teens connected to the Greater Boston
Jewish Federation. International
participants without federation support
may
also be eligible for this subsidy.
- $6,500
Price
for Non-Boston Participants
For all North American teens not
connected to the Greater Boston Jewish
Federation, it is possible that your own
federation or synagogue will be able to
provide support. Our office will assist
you in exploring this option.
- Passport to
Israel
savings accounts are
eligible to be applied toward Teens
for Tzedek. Please consult with your
rabbi or chair of the Passport program
at
your congregation.
- Financial Aid is also available.
Additional grants are available from the
CJP and the JCC on a case by case
basis. You can download

Teens
for Tzedek
Summer
Israel Experience
The
program is run in partnership with the Ruttenberg
Institute for Youth Education in Haifa, the Yemin
Orde Youth Village in Hof HaCarmel, and the Jewish
Community Relations Council of Greater Boston.
The
Summer Israel Experience Is
sponsored by the Frieze Family Foundation, the
Combined Jewish Philanthropies' Boston-Haifa
Connection, and generous contributions from
individual supporters in the community.
Teens
for Tzedek is the year round social justice program
of the JCCs of Greater Boston, providing teens in
the Greater Boston area with opportunities to
engage in community service and political advocacy
.
